Pattaya is not the most pleasant town in Thailand to visit. It's reputation is disgusting and not where I expected to end up with my mom on our Southeast Asia trip. However, it was the city with the nearest bus station to the home of my friends who we intended to visit. Pattaya appears to be trying to change their image with with several cultural activities and beaches to the north and south of the City that cater to a more family-friendly crowd. One gem in the city is the Hilton with restaurants and bars that hang over the city streets and the Gulf of Thailand. My friends met us at the Central Festival shopping center situated under the hotel and enjoyed a couple cocktails at this sky bar, Horizon. Sunset the following cool light were accentuated by the sleek and subdued browns, grays, and blues of the interior decoration at Horizon. The seating was comfortable and encouraged easy conversation over happy hour. Water pipes adorned about half the tables creating some visual variety with the lines and curves of the furniture and railings. The views over the water and along the curve of Pattaya's waterfront are unbeatable!
