Historic CBD Buildings

Historic CBD BuildingsAuckland's Central Business District may be watched over by the soaring Sky Tower, but it's anchored in heritage architecture along Queen Street. Start at the Edwardian baroque-style Ferry Terminal, built in 1912. Further up the street, the coffered ceilings and glass roofs of Queens and Strand Arcades give you a feel for shopping at the turn of the century. The Civic Theatre is one of the last surviving "atmospheric" theaters in the world, with a grand India-inspired interior and Art Deco facade.
