The famous John Lennon and Yoko Ono "Bed-In for Peace" happened here in the Presidential Suite #902 on a day in March much like this. John and Yoko were married in Paris March 20th and flew to Amsterdam, setting up their room at the Hilton Amsterdam as a press room by inviting international press to hang out with them. Talking from their bed over the course of several days, the message was peace, especially as a protest against the Vietnam war.
You can arrange to be married in this suite, and it is very popular with brides. Renamed the "John and Yoko Honeymoon Suite" and re-numbered #702, your ceremony will certainly make a statement. The hotel on the whole is updated mid-century grand with charming touches like the hotel's elegant barge boat moored outside on the canal ready for a cruise around with guests. The renown and stylish Roberto's Amsterdam restaurant is just off the main lobby. ( See my post for a description.)
