Higashitenno-Okazaki Shrine

The "Rabbit Shrine"
Just when I thought I had seen enough shrines I stumbled across the Higashitenno-Okazaki Shrine in Kyoto, not far from the much larger famous Heian Shrine. This smaller shrine was completely empty and I was able to roam around in solitude and appreciate the Kawaii (cute in Japanese) rabbit statues.

Only in Japan could there be an entire shrine built with rabbit statues and miniature rabbit figurines lined up perfectly straight trusting that no one will remove them. This “off the beaten track” shrine is worth checking out.
