HI - Sausalito: Marin Headlands
A Peaceful and Affordable Hostel Stay with the Family
This hostel in the verdant Marin Headlands was our family's answer to affordable lodging during our last visit to the Bay Area. The hostel is a former Army fort with a main house that has dorm rooms, a kitchen, common areas, etc., but we opted for a private room in the Annex -which also has a (smaller) kitchen and common areas. It was lovely and mellow and I had a great view of the Headlands from my bed. We walked to the nearby beach, the Headlands Visitors Center and the Marine Mammal Center from the hostel and had dinner in nearby Sausalito one evening. The hostel has the feel of a retreat, but the abundant open space makes it great for families as well.
