Experience Hunting and Gathering in the heart of Dallas
In Dallas, it's easy to become just another brunch spot on an indefinitely long list of restaurants we love. It's trendy to be the next trendy eatery in our little neck of North Texas. And while they love chains in 'burbs, Dallasites have a more particular palate. That's why HG Sply Co. has become one of the most popular (and one of my favorite) spots in The Big D.
Sure, I'm sucker for the casually uncasual hipster vibe of Lowest Greenville. Admittedly, I'm a fan of the locavore/organic/farm-raised/craft beer scene. So, HG wasn't a far cry from my typical taste. But don't let this discount this paleo-inspired eatery.
The menu is full of fresh, local fare that is mouthwatering upon just reading the menu. From the pulled pork nachos appetizer to the roasted beet salad to the Bugerstack bowl, everything is cooked to literal perfection. If you're looking for a heartier meal, try something from the "Hunted" or "Gathered" section of the menu. I have literally watched someone lose his mind over the Delmonico steak. In a good way.
HG Sply Co. also features a wonderful bar with fresh cocktails and craft beers. The Happy Hour features $5 drinks and appetizers (including those pork tacos), so try to arrive before 7.
The goodness of HG hasn't gone unnoticed by Dallas residents. The wait time for walk-up service can extend to an hour and a half in some cases. But, don't let the wait discourage your visit. Grab a Paper Plane (or libation of your choice) and stay awhile.
