An American-Style Bar in ShanghaiIf you're an international student at Fudan or Tongji University (or a solo college student backpacker looking for some company), knowing about Helen's is a must. Here's what's important: hookah, pizza, pancakes, music, and beer. Helen's has it all! Menus and walls are written and graffitied on by students and travelers from around the world, bathrooms have no toilet paper, the ceiling is adorned with international flags, the manager watches Tom and Jerry on his laptop, and most fuywuyans understand English, or pointing.
Breakfast is served all day, as is pizza, and booze. Each night has a different theme at Helen's, such as free cigarettes on Wednesday's, or free beer for whoever shares their playlist with the restaurant that night. Maybe you'll even get some creepy Japanese guy buy you a drink after telling you his grandfather wouldn't like you because of WWII. It's never a dull moment at Helen's.
Tip: Really, there is none. Just go! Okay, fine. It's best at night.
