Weekend Guide: Skiing Lake Tahoe
Tahoe is the perfect winter destination, even for non-skiers. If you are looking to get in some solid mountain time, check out Heavenly at South Lake Tahoe. Half in California, half in Nevada, Heavenly is one of the bigger Tahoe resorts suitable for all ages. The Heavenly Village has the best food and shopping, while the surrounding area is well-known for fresh sushi. Try Big Bear diner to fuel up before hitting the slopes and relax mid-mountain with a well deserved apres-ski cocktail. Driving to the south shore of Lake Tahoe is slightly harder than passing through Sacramento on your way to Truckee. Be sure your driver is experienced in navigating winter road conditions. It can be dangerous getting a vehicle over the mountain pass, so please do everything you can to stay informed on what to do in dangerous winter conditions!
