This beautiful mosque sits on the shore of Casablanca, Morocco, staring out to sea. The 7th largest mosque in the world, and the largest in Morocco, it is not to be missed. After milling through the bustling crowds around it, I stepped into the mosque, taking my shoes off per the custom, and reveled in the immediate silence and peace the flooded my senses. As you walk around you can witness worshipers praying in the traditional way (take care if you are a woman to mind the protocol), see the beautiful tile-work and art the suffuses the multiple-leveled building, and if you're lucky, catch a glimpse at the bath in the basement--an ancient tradition for Muslims that is still in use today.
