On the north of Baranof Island lies Hanus Bay, a calm, fairly secluded cove perfect for kayaking. The clear water reflects the tall pines and eagles can be seen circling above and landing in the enormous trees. Their expert eyes are spotting the fish beneath our boats, and the birds wait eagerly for us to move on. Although the temperatures were cool in August, the exercise quickly makes up for any chill in the air.
