The main parish church of Hammerfest is easily the most distinctive building in the town. Its long shape, angled walls and tall tower are reminiscent of Tromsø’s Arctic Cathedral, both built in the 1960s. The building holds valuable items salvaged from the city's older churches. Don’t miss a chance to see Hauen Chapel—the only building in town to survive World War II—which still stands proudly next to the new church.
