Built on a tiny islet just off Mumbai’s coast, this landmark's white domes and minarets look like they’re floating in the Arabian Sea. Thousands of people of all faiths visit this mosque each day, crossing the narrow causeway at low tide to see the tomb of the Muslim saint Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, whose remains are said to have miraculously floated here after a pilgrimage to Mecca. It’s a bit dilapidated with lots of beggars, but the location is spectacular.
