Before my trip to Istanbul, I read several reviews of travelers' visits to the Hagia Sofia - a former church turned mosque turned museum. The reviews referred to it as "beautiful" or as "a must see", but I wasn't expecting to have the wind knocked out of me in sheer awe of its beauty when I stepped through the doors of this wondrous place! I literally gasped when I walked in and witnessed the brilliance of this scene.
