As is the case with our visits to many local restaurants, a deal from Groupon inspired us to try this restaurant that I've been driving past for years now. "Yakiniku" is a Japanese term that means “grilled meat” and it broadly refers to grilled meat dishes. At first, I kept confusing Gyu-Kaku for a Korean barbecue joint where you grill your meats and veggies tableside. I guess I wasn’t completely off base since at some point in Japan’s culinary history “yakiniku” was associated with Korean cuisine. At this hands-on restaurant, you get to grill your own pre-seasoned meats and veggies, and you can order rice, noodles, and the most delicious chili dumplings to accompany your meal. For dessert, we roasted our own marshmallows for S'mores which was the perfect ending to an excellent meal!
