Pages and Typeface: Exploring the Printed Word in the Gutenberg Museum
Mainz's Gutenberg Museum is worth the 5 Euro entrance fee. It houses countless pages of pre-and post-Gutenberg books, a wing on Asian book making, and many many types of full printing presses. There's even an exhibition on handwriting and fonts - for those word nerds who love fonts, like me, it's a must see. Every hour there's a real life demonstration of how Gutenberg used his printing press. And, the pièce de resistance, the museum houses three original Gutenberg Bibles.

To be honest, I entered the museum because it was a rainy afternoon and I had been living next to it for four months without going in, but I left having learned a great deal and feeling very thankful for the rainy afternoon.
