This was my official welcome to Turkey. After taking the train from the airport to our new home in Istanbul - the area Gulhane - we ducked into a tiny cafe on a quiet corner for a coffee. Not only was the cup and saucer bright and beautiful, the coffee itself tasted of adventure.
I drink coffee fairly often and I've noticed that it can be representative the cuisine and local cultures if made well. My daily cup in Brooklyn is not match for the richness of this tiny cup of Turkish brew. The heat and grittiness was a brilliant start to my Turkish adventure.
