Grotte di Nettuno
The Grotte di Nettuno (or Neptune's Caves) is a wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites and freshwater lakes under Capo Caccia, a headland some eight kilometers (five miles) east of Alghero. It can be reached on a 20-minute boat trip from Alghero's harbor (the easiest way to get there) or, during the summer, on a 50-minute bus ride to the top of the cliff. You then have to descend a 600-odd-step stairway to reach the caves.
