The vegetarian, vegan and raw movement in Toronto has become more varied over the years but most establishments are all casual. Enter Grasslands for a fancier option to eat vegan. Formerly Fressen (and sister of Urban Herbivore in Kensington Market), Grasslands has a funky yet woodsy atmosphere, a rockin' bar with cocktails and mocktails to match and of course, a great menu full of Vegan treats right in the heart of Queen Street.
All menu items are noted wheat free, gluten free or nut free. Popular items include the crispy oysters and corn fritters among appetizers; crusted chicken for mains. We enjoyed the seasonal roasted pumpkin salad topped with pumpkin seeds and cranberries.
It's a great healthy option among the clutter of restaurants and shops on Queen West. Bonus: they serve brunch too!
