While British Columbia offers some of Canada‘s most stunning parks, you don’t have to leave the city to see some breath-taking scenery. English Bay is lined with waterfront promenades while one of my favorite excursions is over to Granville Island. The island faces downtown Vancouver which sits opposite it on the other side of False Creek. (Vancouver was, in fact, originally named Granville. It got its current name in 1886, in honor of English explorer George Vancouver.) Granville Island Market is world famous, and the island also has some excellent waterfront restaurants. The view of downtown from the bridge, however, may be the highlight of your walk. If you want to see Vancouver beyond Downtown, contact me to create a customized itinerary at john.clifford@afar.com.
