The City's Scenic Circle
Thanks to smart city planning in the early stages of the Twin Cities' development, the government bought up the land connecting Minneapolis's major lakes and the Mississippi River to create a 50-mile loop of parks, trails, and outdoors recreation for all to enjoy. Even in the winter, the parkway and paths are plowed daily, so there is no excuse not to get out and spend a day biking the entire route or exploring the seven segments over time at a more leisurely pace. Highlights include water activities like windsurfing (or ice surfing in the winter) at the Chain of Lakes, hiking around the gushing Minnehaha Falls, and strolling the Downtown Mississippi Riverfront, with cultural and historic landmarks like the Guthrie Theater and Mill City Ruins just off its shores.
