This one of the many fantastic monuments in Graceland Cemetery, the who's who of Chicago history listed on the National Register and world renown for the beautiful landscaping. This is the monument for William Hulbert (1832-1882), one of the founders of the National League and president of the Chicago White Stockings (today's Chicago Cubs). The original 8 teams in the NL are on this baseball monument - these 4 were in the Eastern Division. Wrigley Field is just a few blocks away and you sometimes hear the national anthem or cheering after a Cubs homerun.
Chicago Architecture Foundation gives excellent 2-hour walking tours every Sunday in September and October.
