411 17 Gothenburg, Sweden
Gothenburg CathedralAn active cathedral with several services throughout the day, Gothenburg Cathedral is actually the fourth place of worship to stand on this site at the heart of the city.
A temporary stave church stood here while the first cathedral was built in the very early days of the city. The cathedral was rebuilt following a devastating fire in 1721, and again in 1802.
The interior is decorated in a simple, classical style and although the organ was updated in the 1960s, it retains the original white and gold facade.
