Görlitz

Görlitz, Germany

Görlitz is the most eastern town in Germany and it’s opposite the Polish town of Zgorzelec, which was a part of Görlitz until 1945. Today the river is the border and on the bridge a simple line delineates where Germany ends and Poland begins. There were times when crossing from one country to another was a lot harder. The great thing about visiting Görlitz is that you get to see everything as it was before the war. Bombs did not touch this charming town so it’s nicely preserved which is why many consider it the most beautiful town in Saxony, and rightly so when you consider the town has over 3,500 architectural monuments spanning 500 years.
