Goreme Open-Air Museum
Exploring the Moonscapes of CappadociaNormally a 1-2 night stay in Goreme is recommended to revel in the volcanic moonscape lands and fairy chimneys of the Cappadocian region. If you’re really short on time, though, and don’t have plans to return to Turkey anytime soon, book a day tour to Cappadocia with Turista Travel.
Turista Travel has been operating in Sultanahmet since 1982 and offers a package deal with flights, lunch, and tours of the sites in around Goreme town, including the not-to-be-missed Goreme open-air museum. This museum is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and features rock-hewn churches and monasteries that date back to the 10th century. The highlight of the museum is the elaborate Byzantine frescoes that have retained much of their splendor over their one thousand years of existence.
This day trip comes with a caveat: You will want to come back just to float over the lands in a hot air balloon, discover the ancient underground cities, and hike the mystical Ilhara Valley.
