Surrounded by St. Charles and Aransas Bays, nestling the north edge of the city of Rockport, Goose Island State Park has a live oak tree estimated to be 1,000 years old. Monumental, it symbolizes the enduring power of nature—a theme that repeats itself along this portion of the Texas coastline. Swimming isn’t the main attraction at Goose Island, instead visitors come to hike, bike, and fish along the shore. Campers can choose between 44 seaside sites, or put their tents up beneath the shady oak trees.
