History ClassHome to the Lone Star State’s famous “Come and Take It” cannon, this small town is rich in Texas history. Kids can play home on the range at the Pioneer Village and Living History Center where actors in period costumes give tours of the small village, which has a collection of 13 houses and buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s. Fun lessons continue at the Gonzales Memorial Museum where you can see uniforms worn by local soldiers, as well as the famous cannon—which, originally used during the 1835 Battle of Gonzales, has come to symbolize Texas’a independent spirit.
