Goblin Valley State Park
The Goblins are a series of rock formations called Hoodoos. These are formed through a combination of water erosion and sand being blown into the stone slowly chopping away at it. What forms are mushroom shaped formations, where heavier sand particles stay closer to the ground and leave the mushroom top relatively un-scathed. While there are a few established trails, the namesake attraction, the Valley of the Goblins, is three square miles of self-guided explorable landscape—that is especially kid friendly. Beyond exploring on foot, there are 7 miles of easy to moderate mountain bike trails in five loops. And since it’s so far away from any population centers, the stars are incredible.
