Glencolmcille Folk Village
Named after Saint Columba, Glencolmcille is set in a small coastal valley against a backdrop of magnificent mountain scenery. A few minutes outside the village, the cluster of small cottages of Glencolmcille Folk Village gives visitors a window into a bygone era of this remote corner of County Donegal. These are faithful reproductions of small, one-story thatched dwellings known as clachans, each representing a different era of Irish history: the pub-grocer, a fisherman’s cottage or the 19th-century Dooey School House. There are regular craft demonstrations, a souvenir shop and a teahouse.
