Giardini Pubblici

Cagliari, Province of Cagliari, Italy

While “Public Gardens” doesn’t quite capture the same romantic vibe as the rest of Cagliari, the city’s oldest public gardens are actually a dreamy, serene escape from the rest of the city. They’re popular with families, and during weekdays you can find yourself dodging strollers and groups of school children on field trips. But, with the old city looming overhead, and a 125 year old ficus providing a massive canopy of shade, there are few places better to spend an afternoon reading. At the far end, near the Galleria Communale d’Arte, is a coffee stand and a few tables. Most days, local, national, and international newspapers are neatly laid out on a few of the tables for your reading pleasure.
