If you're going to see one thing outside of Belfast, make it this otherworldly landscape of over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that resembles a giant, natural jigsaw puzzle. Located on the County Antrim coast, this curious landform was created over 60 million years ago during intense volcanic activity. Unsurprisingly it plays a role in local lore; it was the reputed site of an ancient battle between Irish folk hero Finn MacCool and a Scottish giant called Benandonner.
