The name of these two temples located on the island of Gozo is derived from the Maltese word for giant since this UNESCO World Heritage site was once (and awesomely) associated with a race of giants. While you picture a clan of Wun Wun’s ("Game of Thrones," anyone?) stomping amid these rough coralline limestone blocks that weigh over 50 tons, also consider that this site is one of the oldest ceremonial temples in the world—far preceding both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Entry costs €6.
