At the foot of the Mount of Olives, this grove of olive trees is best known as the site of Jesus’s last night before his crucifixion. After the Last Supper, surrounded by his sleeping disciples, Jesus prayed among the trees. Although there is some disagreement among scholars regarding Gethsemane’s true location, the garden is a fascinating historic site with some of the trees dating to the early 2nd century.
