The Georgia Theatre is an Athens classic, hosting concerts for decades. However, until recently, your feet stuck to the floor and you were afraid to go upstairs. Then, two years ago, Athens awoke to its downtown landmark engulfed in flames. It was a total loss of a 100 year old venue that had many reincarnations through the years.
Through perseverance and a lot of community support, the Theatre, as locals call it, is back, better than ever. The completely restored facade is filled with a perfect venue to dance and party the night away.
Best of all, the renovations allowed for the installation of a rooftop bar, open for lunch, with the best views of downtown Athens. If you are in town and cannot make a concert, at least go to the roof for lunch or a drink.
