Gedempte Oude Gracht/Nassaulaan

If flowers float your boat, your ship is sure to come in at the Bloemencorso of the Bollenstreek. The parade of richly decorated floats accompanied by marching bands and costumed dancers, cheered on by thousands of spectators, is among the highlights of tulip season in the Netherlands, when flower fields from Noordwijk to Haarlem transform into rainbow ribbons of neon-bright blooms. For three days preceding the Flower Parade through the bulb fields, volunteers festoon some 20 floats moored in a hall in Sassenheim with hyacinths, tulips, daffodils and other bulb flowers. On parade day, the floats wind through the bulb region, passing Keukenhof, where 800 varieties of Holland’s iconic flower displayed in dazzling manicured gardens, enroute to Haarlem. Following the parade, the floats are moored in central Haarlem for viewing.
