A once sugar baron estate and plantation, the Kilohana Plantation and its restaurant, Gaylord's, put on a Sunday Brunch of Fun. Enjoy a lazy Sunday with mimosas, live local music, the estate's mascots (aka roosters), and views of Kauai's natural beauty. The world is your oyster.
The brunch is a buffet with a twist. You have the traditional selection of fresh fruits, French toast, three-cheese eggs, BACON and more breakfast meats, and the house specialty rum pudding, made from its own Koloa Rum. The twist is an opportunity to order one main dish: steak and eggs, ahi benedict, or an omelet of your choice. My suggestion is do NOT leave without ordering an ahi benedict. It was a perfectly poached egg with sautéed spinach and fresh tuna cooked to medium.
After brunch, that is if you can still walk, why not go for a stroll through the gardens and window shop at the pottery studio? If you are feeling artistic, you can even paint and fire your own souvenir. If all you can do is ride, take the once an hour train ride around the plantation with a narrated tour. It is 40 minutes, allowing you to digest your delectable choices from brunch.
