Gardens of Kultaranta

The summer residence of the president of Finland, Kultaranta, on the island of Luonnonmaa, is a 19-room manor house built in the 1900s that's surrounded by magnificent 56-hectare (138-acre) grounds. The parkland includes 1,000 square meters (0.25 acres) of greenhouses in which a variety of flowers and vegetables grow year-round. But the highlight is the 16-hectare (39-acre) formal garden known as the Medallion; here some 3,500 rosebushes are planted among fountains, fir trees and gravel pathways.
