I got off the bus stop for Gaobang Shan (mountain in Chinese) on a day so disgustingly hot and humid that it made me want to turn around before I had even started the trek up. But up I went anyway (whining silently most of the way, mind you) until I spotted Xiangyun Tower.
There I realized two things: one, Gaobang Shan was really more of a hill and my fears of never making it to the top had been ridiculous. The second thing is that the peak boasted a view of not one, but two lakes--Huizhou's West Lake and the Red Flower Lake. The only way that moment could've been improved was if I had sprouted wings allowing me to fly into one of those bodies of water to cool down.
