Sadhus, or Babas, can be found sleeping all over the city of Varanasi, India, fully clad in their orange and gold getup you see them tucked in corners, cuddled up to cows or draped over the steps of the ghats, they are a strange and wonderfully photogenic sight.
One of my favorite things to do in Varanasi, India is to sit on the ghats along the Ganges river and just watch life go by, so much color and activity, endless photo opportunities and a wonderful little glimpse of Indian culture
Here along the shores of the Ganges river in Varanasi, India a man sifts through the ashes of bodies burned along the ghats looking for useful bits left behind or forgotten, such a beautiful and bittersweet image.
The holy men of Varanasi, India can be seen taking a quick nap pretty much any time of day. They look so peaceful and colorful. I love seeing the way that life in India is lived almost entirely in pubic.
