Ganna Walska Lotusland
Set on 25 acres, Ganna Walska Lotusland is a botanical garden wonderland and historical estate formerly belonging to Madame Ganna Walska, a polish immigrant who over the course of her life married six times. After living in Paris and New York, Walska moved to Santa Barbara.

She purchased the property in 1941 and through the decades added themed gardens, the Japanese garden, the topiary garden, the cactus garden, for example. Flora and fauna thrive here, and it's entirely possible to get lost in all the colors, flowers and species preserved, not to mention Walska's history. (She auctioned off some of her jewelry in order to finance her the cycad garden, what would become her final endeavor before her death.) After her death in 1984, Walska endowed her garden and estate to the Ganna Walska Lotusland Foundation.

Lotusland is located in a private residential neighborhood, so it's essential to book in advance to join a docent-led tour. Regular tours and Family Tours are offered at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday between February 15 and November 15.
