I am not a museum person. I just don't have the attention span for room after room of Old Masters or Etruscan tombs. But I do love the Accademia. Partly because it is manageable, and partly because I love the Amati and Stradivarius instruments in its collection. The gift shop isn't half bad either. But mostly it comes down to this guy...the David...the perfect man. Looks good naked and will never tell you, "That dress makes you look fat."
A word of advice. Book online and go early. Your time in Florence is valuable so pay the booking fee, get out of bed and head over to the museum. You will also discover Florence in the morning, before the crowds take over, is pretty magical all by itself.
