Gaillard Municipal Auditorium

95 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401, USA

The Gaillard Auditorium was Charleston‘s main venue for performing arts events for decades from the time it opened in 1968. The auditorium hosted events for the city’s Spoleto Festival and served as the home of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. But eventually the bulky ‘60s building was due for a makeover, not least of all its concert hall, and so the venue closed down in 2012 for a $142 million renovation. The updated Gaillard Center opened in 2015. It has an elegant neoclassical look, and its new performance hall has top-notch acoustics worthy of the star performers it attracts.
