I joined a group, led by Perry Golf for 12 days of golfing, wine tasting and fishing in New Zealand last November. This was a perfect trip for me, as I'm passionate about golf and travel and wine - combining them all? I was in heaven.
The golf was great -- we got to play with members of a local country club (great way to get to know the people of NZ!) and played Cape Kidnappers (rated the 6th best course in the world by Golf Digest.) The wine tasting was top notch -- I know why NZ is known for their Sauvignon Blancs - they rock!
But the memorable parts of the trip came in our "downtime" in Queenstown. Five of us flew over to Milford Sound in a small Cessna. Being in the front seat I had the most spectacular view of the Alps -- close up! I thought we were landing on them. The following day I took advantage of a break in the weather to paraglide from the top of the gondola in Queenstown. The wind direction required us to go higher up the mountain (made me nervous...I won't lie), but the feeling I got when stepping off the hillside and floating above the entire city of Q'town was surreal. It literally brought tears to my eyes. And landing in the middle of a schoolyard filled with children playing just topped it off!
It was a great trip from beginning to end and, if I close my eyes I can still feel myself floating (while sitting on handsome Brandon's lap! ;-))
