It’s a Texas Tradition. People go for the glide and slide, but also for the old-fashioned summer night dances at Garner State Park’s Concession Building. Tunes from a jukebox take over the airwaves nostalgically at night, but vacationers spend most of their days in the cool, crystalline waters. Float for almost three miles through 1,774-acres of gorgeous landscape. You can also skip the tube and instead hike eleven miles of marked trails. Be prepared for tons of tubers, most of them gleeful and giggling. Camping sites abound, as do cabins and with old-fashioned screened in shelters, ideal for larger groups.
