Walking to the Light
Next door to the Samoset Resort is the famous breakwater that is home to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. The lighthouse is situated at the end of a very long breakwater that protects Rockland Harbor in Penobscot Maine. It’s a fabulous place to take a walk out to inhale the beauty of the place. Allow about an half an hour to stroll out to the lighthouse and back, but plenty of time to explore & to the inhale the beauty of the place. During the Summer months, visors can make their way to the top of the light to check out spectacular views of surrounding Penobscot Bay. Please note that this is a very small space & it gets crowded very fast, best to plan ahead to avoid the crowds. Don't forget that there is a beach near by at the begging of the breakwater that is worth exploring as well.
