Frei Station, Antarctica
For anyone taking a fly-cruise to Antarctica, Frei Station is their first introduction to the 7th continent. Adjacent to an air strip, it is here where many start their exploration of Antarctica. A Chilean base, Frei is located on the South Shetland Islands near many other national bases including those of: Russia, Korea, Peru, Poland and Uruguay. In operation since 1969, the airstrip handles more than 200 flights every season making it a vital link to Antarctica.
