You don't need to pay an entrance fee to access this beautiful hike in Joshua Tree Park. You can get to the trail via a road just off the main highway. The hike climbs gradually to a ridge and then descends down to the oasis. It's a good spot for a picnic while you marvel at all the greenery in the middle of the desert. We hiked in the fall when temps were much cooler. Even so, it's not an easy hike so be sure to bring lots of water.
