Brown followed a local’s advice and headed to Karangahape Road, a lively shopping district where he found a “charming jewel box of a sandwich shop” called Fort Greene. What did he order? “The Fish One”, a sandwich composed of house-smoked Kahawai (a local fish similar to mackerel), mushy peas, pea shoots, and tartar sauce served on bread baked in-house. “Honestly, this is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had,” Brown says.
