There aren't a lot of options of places to stay when you're traveling through West Texas. Sure, you can stop along I-10 and stay in one of the many hotels in Fort Stockton, but trust me, it's worth the slight detour off of I-10 to go to the Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park.
Built during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Indian Lodge is a welcome oasis in the mountains of West Texas.
During the holiday season, the lodge is magical, with lights surrounding it.
Visit the on-site restaurant for a ridiculously inexpensive breakfast (or dinner) and if you ask nicely, they'll even prepare a cup of hot-chocolate for you to go.
