Kicking Back in Fort Collins
Think of Fort Collins as the northerly, laid-back sister city to Boulder: The town, located about half an hour south of the Wyoming border, has much of the same outdoor culture, shopping scene, and cool, college-town vibe with less of the expense and hustle of its bigger counterpart. In place of the Pearl Street Mall, take a stroll down College Avenue downtown, taking a detour to treat the kids to a locally-made scoop at Walrus Ice Cream. (Uh, yeah...right...for the kids.). In the foothills just west of town, Lory State Park has 20 miles of hiking trails, almost all of them moderate; take the 1.7-mile trek up to local lookout Arthur’s Rock.
