Breendonk SS Transit Camp
Remember modern Europe’s darkest moment with a visit to the Breendonk SS Transit Camp, which the Nazis used as a collection point for Jews and others rounded up from around Belgium before they were shipped to concentration camps. The site includes a fortress used as the headquarters for the Belgian army before World War II, surrounded by a moat, and a memorial and museum with exhibits about Nazi-occupied Belgium and the brutal hardships of Breendonk.
